UNION CITY, Ind. – The Union City Indians varsity football team fell 41-14 to visiting Tri Titans Friday night in week one conference play.
The Indians had their hands full early one, as the Titan’s run game was hard to stop for the inexperienced UC defense. They were able to keep Tri out of the endzone in the first quarter, with a couple fourth dowm stops in the redzone. The second quarter looked much like the first until Tri capitalized off two Indian turnovers late in the first half, to take a 14-0 lead. Tri was able to pull away with the lead in the second half of play to close the door on UC and take the 41-14 Tri-Eastern Conference win.
“We had a lot of young guys seeing varsity play for the first time ever,” said UC head coach Keith Maloy. “I am excited to see where this team goes once we figure it all out.”
“Tri was a great team and was a great first test for us out of the gate,” Coach Maloy added.
The Indians will look to bounce back as they host Oldenburg Academy in non-conference play on Friday. Kickoff set for 7 p.m.
