Eaton puts up 23 second half unanswered points to down Greenville
EATON – Eaton’s varsity football team got off to a great start in 2022 – from the Eagles’ first play from scrimmage to a 44-13 win over Greenville. The Eagles opened the season at home on Friday, Aug. 19.
Quarterback Brock Ebright and receiver Leslie Orr got Eaton going on the team’s first play. The two connected on a 58-yard touchdown pass. Drew Michael connected on the extra point and put the Eagles up 7-0.
Greenville came right back with a touchdown drive of their own as the first quarter ended, 7-6.
Eaton scored two more touchdowns in the second period, with Ebright throwing for a score and running for another. He completed a 5-yard pass to Brayden Deem for a score. The Eaton quarterback was 16-of-20 for 259 yards in the game.
Greenville also added a TD on an 80-yard run by Brock Short. The half ended with Eaton up 21-13.
The second half belonged to the Eagles as they put up 23 unanswered points. Running back Cordis Berard accounted for two of Eaton’s scores with touchdown runs of 21 and 17 yards.
Berard finished the game with 102 yards on 14 carries. Danny Caldwell added another score with a 13-yard run.
Eaton will travel to Springfield Shawnee on Thursday, Aug. 25, and then host Talawanda on Friday, Sept. 2.
Greenville host Stebbins at Harmon Field on Friday, Aug. 26 with a 7 p.m. start time.
