Greenville boys soccer team prepares for 2021 season under first year head coach, Marshall Combs
The Greenville Green Wave boys soccer team hosted the Brookville Blue Devils in a preseason varsity soccer match at Greenville’s Good Samaritan Stadium at Harmon Field with the Wave taking the field under first year head coach, Marshall Combs.
“We had several people out this match,” Combs noted, “but we are going to be looking strong next week.”
The teams showcased their 2021 squads before an appreciative crowd from both schools including Greenville varsity girls soccer coach, Dave Ernst and the Lady Wave soccer team and staff.
The Brookville varsity boys soccer program fields a solid team each year and looks to be competitive for the upcoming season.
“Brookville has a good program,” Combs said. “They’re a tough team and that is why I wanted to scrimmage them. They have a good solid program and that is why they come to Greenville to scrimmage us.”
The teams put on a competitive 80 minute soccer match as the programs prepare for the 2021 OHSAA soccer season.
“We had a few good shots on goal but I think we need to work on some striking,” said Coach Combs. “Our defense was solid in the middle but I think we were failing on the outsides a little bit so we’ll just have to step it up on the outside.”
