Versailles Winery thanks community amid fire, reopens partially for retail

VERSAILLES—The Winery at Versailles is making a quick turnaround after a fire broke out in the main building on Saturday morning.

The fire occurred near the dryer in the stock room. Damages from the fire are contained to the main stock room structure, but Retail and Marketing Manager Lisa Heidenreich explained the winery won’t know the true extent until they start rebuilding. Smoke damages are currently being assessed as well.

Heidenreich said that following the fire, the staff jumped on board to help with clean up.

“We should be up and running soon,” she said. “We’ve been absolutely blown away by the outpouring of love, prayers and well wishes. Several local businesses have offered their venues and services.”

Until then, the winery reopened its front sales area for retail sales. The kitchen and seating will remain closed until further notice.

“We are so blessed to be a part of this community,” Heidenreich said. “A big shout out to the local fire and sheriff departments for their immediate response to our call. They are definitely heroes in our book.”

The winery is open Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. For more information go to tinyurl.com/verswinery or call the winery at (937) 526-3232.
