Versailles scrimmages Celina and Greenville

The Versailles Lady Tigers basketball team scrimmages well following deep run into volleyball tournament

GREENVILLE – The Versailles Lady Tigers traveled to Greenville to take on the Lady Wave and the Celina Lady Bulldogs in a preseason basketball scrimmage.

“We always strive to work as hard as we can and I feel like from our freshmen to our seniors tonight we got better,” said Versailles coach, Tracy White. “We worked hard the whole time.”

The Lady Tigers were coming off an Elite Eight DIII regional final volleyball match keeping seven players on the sideline for the night.

“It’s an amazing thing – winning breads winning,” White noted. “You can’t really ask for anything more than that.”

“Obviously it does set us back a couple weeks and we start behind from where everybody else might have been but it is what it is,” White continued. “When we get those girls in the gym, we bring them up to our speed and they add to what we bring – we’re excited to get everybody in the gym.”

Coach White took advantage of her seven varsity players on the sideling to get younger players valuable playing time.

“This was huge for our girls especially because the last two weeks we have been practicing with 12 girls,” Coach White stated. “Out of those 12 girls five are freshmen. “So to come and kind of throw them out – we’re just going to go play, we’re going get better.”
