Versailles defeats Cincinnati's Summit Country Day Silver Knights 49-14 to advance in OHSAA football playoffs
VERSAILLES – The Versailles Tigers Eli McEldowney took the opening kickoff 83-yards and the Tigers had a 7-0 lead just 13 seconds into the game on their way to a 49-14 playoff win over Cincinnati’s Summit Country Day Silver Knights football team.
The Summit Silver Knights fumbled their first play and the Tigers recovered. The Tigers had a 14-0 lead just three plays later.
The Silver Knights could not get anything going on the ground rushing for 23-yards on 12-carries. The Silver Knights were able to pass for 198-yards but most were for short yardage. Versailles ran for 228-yards and threw for 152-passing yards for a total of 380-yards on the night.
Carson Bey completed 10 of 12 passes including two touchdown passes; one each to Eli McEldowney and Lucas Stammen.
Jack Osborne had 91-yards and two touchdowns on 10-carries. Landon Henry and Gabe Thompson each scored a touchdown.
The Versailles Tigers will host Carlise next Saturday night in a second round OHSAA playoff game.
