Second half Union City spark leads Lady Indians over Ansonia

UNION CITY, Ind. – The Union City Lady Indians earned their 8th win of the season with a 60-40 win over the visiting Ansonia Lady Tigers Saturday night.

After getting off to a slow start, plagued by turnovers and fouls, the Lady Indians were sparked in the second half by junior Emily Evans who ended with seven rebounds and 16 points, draining three 3-pointers in the second half.

UC senior Katie Elliott recorded 13 points in the non-conference victory. Freshman guard Oaklee Reichard and senior playmaker Mariah Claywell each added 11 points and 10 rebounds apiece. Senior Carlee Risiller had six assists for the Lady Indians.

UC is now 8-1 on the season and will be back in action again on Tuesday as they travel to do battle with county rival Winchester. Ansonia will host Fairlawn on Tuesday.
