Tri-Village High School Football 2021

Tri-Village Football Season Preview 2021

Tri-Village in just their 5th year of football went undefeated in the regular season in 2020 and shocked Ft. Loramie to win the conference championship.

The Patriot also tasted success in the first round of the OHSAA playoffs with a win … but slipped in the 2nd round leaving a bad taste in their mouth.

Tri-Village played the underdog last year and now will be on everyone’s radar as they vie to win the first ever WOAC league championship.

They return a number a key players including (3) 1st team all-state performers led by 6’5 senior quarterback Layne Sarver, 6’5 senior wide receiver Josh Scantland, and 6’4 junior free safety Justin Finkbine.

Also returning are (2) all league and 4-year starters on the line, 5’10 Jakob Saylor and 5’9 Wyatt Plush. Plush was also a 3rd team all-state performer.

Other key contributors to the team will be sophomore Reed Wehr a 1st team all-league player last year at running back and the fastest kid on the team.  Sophomore Tanner Printz is an exciting receiver and kick off – punt returner. Junior Wilson Suggs is an explosive athlete that will make big plays along with senior Amos Weimer.

The offensive and defensive line has a lot of experience that includes another 4-year starter Seth Wogoman and (2) 3-year starters Blake Weyant and Christian Cantrell.  Junior Austin Rismiller will be stepping into the role of tight end.

The Patriots will spread you out and make you defend the whole field which led to them scoring 47 points a game on offense last year.

“We want to be balanced between the run and pass. We want to get our athletes in space and let them make plays,” coach Robert Burk stated.

“On defense we run an odd front and will be aggressive an attempt to set terms for the offense.  We want to use our speed to give people problems,” Burk added.

“We’ve been through some wars and have a lot of guys back from last year’s championship team.”

“Our success this year will be measured in 3 areas; value the ball, win blocks and tackles and do your job.  We evaluate those things every day in practice. We believe those values make championship level teams. Wins come after doing those 3 things,” Burk said.

“Our motto this year is “burn goals” we are only focused on winning the next rep, we feel our biggest weapon will be our experience and team speed.”

“There are many teams with a lot of talent in the league but for our team, it is us vs us every day and if we take care of ourselves then we will be in the hunt for a WOAC title,” Burk concluded.
