The Western Ohio Athletic Conference 2021 All-League Football Teams is highlighted by a number of Darke County Players including two juniors; Arcanum Bryce Schondelmyer Offensive player of the year and Tri-Village Justin Finkbine Defensive player of the year. Preble Shawnee Dave Maddox was Coach of the Year.

WOAC Offensive Player of the Year

Arcanum, 6-2, 195, Bryce Schondelmyer Jr., QB – 2021 Season Stats; 205-343 60% 3,047 yds. 43 TD-s 4 int., 701 Rushing Yards, 10 Rushing TD-s, 6 yds/carry. Maxpreps 2nd in the Nation in passing TD-s. Week 6 Maxpreps Player of the Week Maxpreps 13th in the Nation in passing yds. 2020 Southwest District Player of the Year & 2nd Team All State. 2019 Honorable Mention Southwest District. WOAC Defensive Player of the Year

Tri-Village, 6-3, 180lbs, Justin Finkbine Jr., WR/DB – 2021, 2021 WOAC Defensive Player of the Year & first team All WOAC WR and DB 102 total tackles (50 solo, 52 assited), 10 Tackles For Loss, 1 interception, 1 safety. 22 receptions 604 yds, 11 TDs and First Team all State Defensive Back in 2020.

WOAC Coach of the Year

Preble Shawnee finished a perfect 10-0 in the regular season under Dave Maddox winning the Western Ohio Athletic Conference title. It would be the first ever league title for the Arrows and the most wins ever in school history.

Dale Barger is a lifelong sports enthusiast and has covered high school athletics for nearly 20 years in Southwest Ohio and now becomes sports editor for Darke County now. For 18 years Dale has been a sportswriter for The Daily Advocate and has been published in online sorts magazines and conference websites. Dale is also an accomplished photographer who has captured thousands of athletes in action over the years. Dale is a member of The Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association and was a 2019 recipient of the Ohio High School Athletic Association Southwest District Media Service Award. Dale lives on a 72-acre farm outside of New Madison, Ohio and is married to Rita Ann (Fourman) Barger and together they have two sons and three grandkids.
