DARKE COUNTY – In the latest boys’ and girls’ basketball AP State Poll several teams were recognized for the season they are having.
The Versailles boys are the highest ranked team in the county and undefeated this year at 14-0 and ranked 1st in the state in DIII. They are also 5-0 in the Midwest Athletic Conference and led in scoring by senior guard Jaydon Litten at 16.5 ppg and 6’7” junior forward Connor Stonebraker at 14 ppg, Stonebraker is also ranked 1st in field goal percentage 64.6% and 2nd in the MAC for rebounds at 10.9 per game. The top two assists’ leaders in the MAC are Noah & Eli McEldowney. Noah dishes 6.1 and Eli 3.5 per game.
The Tri-Village girls basketball team is ranked 2nd in DIV and is 14-2 overall and 8-0 in the Western Ohio Athletic Conference. Junior guards Ryler Sagester and Morgan Hunt both reached 1,000 points this season. Sagester is ranked 4th in scoring at 17.3 ppg and 5th in assist 3.9. Hunt is 3rd in field goal percentage 54.2%, 5th in blocked shots 1.7 and 6th in rebounds at 8.9. Senior center Meghan Downing is 1st in blocked shots 5.1 pg, 2nd in field goal percentage 54.3% and 6th in rebounds at 10.9.
The Arcanum girls’ basketball team is ranked 3rd in DIII and is 15-1 overall and 7-1 in the WOAC. Seniors Hailey Unger, Madelyn Fearon and Taylor Gray have all scored 1,000 points in their careers. Unger is 3rd in scoring in the league at 17.6 ppg, Fearon is 2nd in assists with 5.1 and Taylor Gray is 4th in blocks at 2.1.
The Tri-Village boys team is ranked 5th in DIV and is 10-3 overall and 6-0 in the WOAC. Senior Layne Sarver is 4th in scoring at 19.1, 1st in blocks 1.5 and 5th in steals with 2.5 per game. Senior Josh Scantland is 1st in field goal percentage 71% and 3rd in blocks 1.5 per game. Junior Justine Finkbine is 2nd in field goal percentage at 70.4%. Dalton Delong is 3rd in assists at 4.5 per game and Wilson Suggs is 4th in field goal percentage at 56.1%.
