Rita M. (Curtner) Fannon, of Lindstrom, Minnesota, formerly of Greenville, Ohio (89)

Rita Marlene (Curtner) Fannon, 89, previously of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on July 11, 2022 in Lindstrom, MN.

Rita was born on October 12, 1932 to Leonard and Iris (Hollinger) Curtner in Gettysburg, Ohio. Graduating from Gettysburg High School in 1950. After graduation, Rita landed her first job as a secretary at Davis Buick. Davis Buick changed to Bob Ross Buick, which she continued to work for a total of 57 years until her retirement. The Bob Ross family became an extension of Rita’s family and has been supportive throughout her life.

In 1967, she met Paul Fannon, and they wed in 1968. Rita had three sons, Steve Ungericht, Michael Mathis, William Hime. Rita was very passionate about her snowmobiling and traveling. Twice a winter, Paul and Rita would go to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to snowmobile with friends. Along with snowmobiling, they loved to travel across the country with their camper in tow. Some of their highlighted destinations were in the Western U.S. including Yellowstone National Park. Rita was also very passionate about her sports, specifically her football and Nascar. If any of her favorite sports were on tv (Ohio State football, New England Patriots or Nascar), no one dared to bother her while watching any of them!

Rita is preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Iris Curtner, her sister Phyllis (Ned) Hahn, son Michael Mathis, grandchildren Sarah IrisAnne Hime, and Joe Ungericht.

Rita is survived by her sons Steve and Pam (Morris) Ungericht and William and Sateash (Berge) Hime. Rita has five grandchildren Joe (Adonica) Ungericht, Heather (Matt) Wehrenberg, Sarah IrisAnne Hime, Grace LillyAnne Hime, and Devan Berge-Hime. Rita had six great grandchildren and four step great grandchildren along with nine step great, great grandchildren, whom she all adored.

A celebration of Rita’s life will be held at the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville, Ohio on August 20 th from 9am to noon. Following will be a graveside service at the Gettysburg Cemetery With Rev. Dr. Fred Bernhard officiating. Afterwards a small luncheon will be held at Traci Ward’s home (Rita’s niece) 629 Spring Street in Greenville.
