Preble County Historical Society Hosts Annual Bridges, Bikes and Blues Historic Bridge Tour
EATON – The Preble County Historical Society hosted its annual Bridges, Bikes and Blues Historic Bridge Tour on Saturday, June 18. This year’s event included a partnership with the Lewisburg Historical Society who hosted the finale party and ice cream social with food and music.
The event started at the PCHS center on Swartsel Road and included a tour of eight bridges, including the county’s seven historic covered bridges. Special activities were held prior to the start of the day’s ride, including a special ceremony hosted by Mark Banks and his family, who performed their traditional music and dance.
The Preble County Sheriff’s Department led the route and stopped traffic for safety. The City of Eaton also provided a rest area for riders who then proceeded on Lewisburg for the final stop.
The PCHS offered special thanks to the number of volunteers who assist with preparation and the event, including the PC Sheriff’s Office, The Dayton Iron Workers and Preble County Business Development.
The PCHS’s next event is a Fourth of July celebration and fireworks show scheduled for Sunday July 3. Gates open at 4 p.m. with the fireworks set for later that evening. This year’s event includes a baseball theme so please wear your favorite team gear!
