Post 140 tops ACME in 16U action

Greenville American Legion Post 140 16U defeats Greenville ACME

GREENVILLE – Greenville American Legion Post 140 Thunder 16U defeated Greenville ACME 9-1 in Tuesday night baseball action at Sater Heights Park.

Post 140 bolted out to an 8-0 lead after two complete plating three runs in the first and five in the second proving to be too much for ACME to bounce back from.

“We jumped on them quick and that was big,” said Post 140 16U coach, Austin Baumgardner.    trey pitched really well for us  it was fun, another win and a good way to end the season right here

The Thunder got scoring underway in the top of the first with a run scoring double off the bat of Gray and put five runs on the second inning board with Ayman Stephens, Rindler, Seth Hoover and Kaeden Lipps picking up RBIs.

Trey Schmelzer earned the win for Post 140 allowing one hit and a run over six innings while striking out 13.

“Trey pitched really well for us,” Baumgardner noted.

Braeden Wills paced ACME with two hits in three at bats.

“Another win and a good way to end the season right here,” said Baumgardner. “I love coaching these guys. So much development from day one to now. It’s fun – that’s why I do it.”
