Miss Bubbles’ third annual Coat Drive now underway

GREENVILLE – With November’s first snowfall, we are reminded that “old man winter” has returned to Darke County, promising a new chilly season filled with family gatherings and holiday feasts with all the delicious trimmings. Yet, for some, the return of cold weather also signals the rising cost of utilities (like gas, electricity, and propane), creating financial stress and hardship, with little left over to meet other winter necessities, such as coats, hats, scarves, and gloves.  Such “little things” mean so much when the temperatures drop below freezing, and one local Greenville business is back once again to help everyone gain access to much needed winter gear.

The third annual Miss Bubbles Coat Drive is now underway, accepting all used men’s, women’s and children’s coats, hats, scarves, gloves, and mittens. Hosted by Miss Bubbles Laundry, located at 1323 Wagner Avenue, all donated items will be professionally laundered, cleaned, sanitized, and then offered to the public, free of charge. Miss Bubbles is a fully stocked laundromat with washing machines ranging from 20 to 80 pounds and offers an app for those who wish a “coin-free” experience.

Last year, in addition to laundering over 3,000 pounds of donations, Miss Bubbles also provided over 90 new children’s coats, and hopes to do more this season.

“I want to thank everyone in the community for their generosity. Our coat intake was significantly increased due to the incredible involvement last year,” said Dynes. “We hope to exceed our expectations this year for our Third Annual Coat Drive!”

In addition to used items, Miss Bubbles will also accept donations of handmade, crocheted, and knitted scarves, mittens, and hats. Monetary donations in any amount are also used toward the purchase of new items – all of which are currently available on the colorful coat rack, located to the right of the front door. Coat donation drop-offs may be made any time in the large blue bin, also located inside the front entrance.

“We hope that, year after year, people in the community will know that they can get a warm winter coat and other items, with no questions asked. Miss Bubbles is committed to continuing the tradition of the Coat Drive,” said Dynes. “Our motto is — If you need a coat, take a coat… If you have a coat, give a coat.”

To drop off coats or pick up a new coat (or two), just stop by Miss Bubbles Laundry, 1323 Wagner Avenue in Greenville, or visit on Facebook.
