Lois E. Wilson, of Greenville, Ohio (89)

Lois E. Wilson age 89, of Greenville passed away at 4:50 pm Thursday, May 5, 2022, at Oakley Place in Greenville.

Lois was born in Dayton, Ohio, on December 9, 1932, to J. Orville and Josephine E. (King) Groff.

She was a graduate of Fairview High School and earned a B.S.Ed. summa cum laude and M.Ed. from Miami University. She married James K. Wilson on June 14, 1952. Lois was retired and had been an art instructor at Eaton H.S. and Miami University. She served as Asst. to the Dean, School of Nursing, Wright State University and did public relations work for the Louisville Federal Intermediate Credit Bank and Cappels of Dayton. She served as an art judge and exhibited in area art shows. She had been a freelance puzzle constructor for Penny Press and was a published writer and poet. She was a Senior Scribe and wrote verse for the Daily Advocate and for the Early Bird publications. She was a regular contributor of articles, verse and Puzzle Pete puzzles to the Darke County News Online website.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Greenville. Past memberships also include Coterie Club, Alpha Lambda Delta and Kappa Delta Pi honoraries, and Chi Omega Sorority. She had served as a board member of the Greenville Public Library, Darke County Center for the Arts, and Anna Bier Gallery. She had been a volunteer literacy tutor at Wayne Industries. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years on May 11, 2017. She is survived by son, J. Keith Wilson and wife Judy of Prescott, Arizona; son, Kevin J. Wilson and wife Cynthia of Sun City Center, Florida; grandchildren Erika (Paul) Brice, Krista (Donald) Eschbach, Olivia (Ian) White, Nathan (Maddie) Wilson, Anthony (Meghan) Wilson; ten great granddaughters and five great grandsons.

A private celebration of Lois’s life will be held at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. Stephen Wills officiating. Burial will follow in Dayton Memorial Park. Memorial gifts may be made to Empowering Darke County Youth or Greenville Township Rescue. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.zecharbailey.com for the Wilson family.
