Life’s Reflections: Sickness Hits Household

Life's Reflections Weekly Column by Linda Moody

The last couple of weeks haven’t been so good for me, health-wise. I contracted my annual head cold, but this one seemed to last and last.

Jamie wasn’t affected at all (knock on wood).

I had earache, sore throats, minor sinus headaches and was tired and didn’t feel any energy whatsoever. I took various decongestant medications, vitamins, gargled with warm salt water quite a few times, used lozenges, ingested honey, sprayed nasal mist in my nose and applied Vicks Vaporub and/or Unker’s Cream numerous times.

But things are much better.

I am hearing there is a virus going around. I am wondering if that’s what I had.

Like I said, I usually get a head cold once a year, but I didn’t late last winter. However, son Jamie did and it lasted about a week until he started feeling better, while the only thing I experienced is loss of taste and smell for also about a week. By that time, we were advised to get tested for COVID, which indicated we were both positive; thus, we did some more quarantine time.

I am hoping to be 100 percent well very soon, so I can get to work on some articles I’ve been wanting to write. And, since I like to visit certain places without fear of spreading anything, I have been wearing a mask so as not to give it to others. I don’t think I had a fever at all.

It would be nice to go into the holidays feeling healthy anyway, so I pray that happens for us and for all of you out there who are feeling under the weather.

My mind is clearer now and most of the coughing and hacking jags are over.

On top of the things I was experiencing with my health, it didn’t help that in the past week I’ve gotten word of many deaths that are occurring….a lot of them young people and that’s so sad.

I feel so sorry for not only them but also those people they left behind.

It has inspired me to try and take better care of my health as well as Jamie’s.

Jamie and I extend our condolences to the families of: Twila Carter, John Davis, Jack Hunt, Kent Klosterman, Wayne Detling, Sue Coppock Rainey, Joan Magoto, Brian King, Ray Darner, Arron Wiler, Terry Whittington, Daniel Weaver, Gregg Blumenstock, Jane Henby, Butch Widener, Adam Puthoff, Charles Michael Ashby, Robert Schaub, Joy McDowell and Kerry Reier.

Think about it: “Some love stories aren’t epic novels. Some are short stories, and, that’s okay, That doesn’t make them any less worthwhile, sincere or filled with love.” — Author Unknown.
