Several masqueraders in Ansonia Thursday night decided to get them some chili before the judging of costumes during the fire department's Halloween celebration. The parade itself was canceled because of the weather but the firefighters still held their chili supper, and the costume judging was held across the street in the Community Center.

Life’s Reflections: Ready For Winter

Life's Reflections

Jamie and I went up to the chili supper at the Ansonia Fire Department Thursday evening during the Halloween celebration, of which only the parade was cancelled due to rainy weather. It was enjoyable seeing everybody.

I had things to do or I would have attended the costume judging across the street in the Community Center, which was formerly the Christian Church, about an hour and a half after the chili supper.

The Halloween event was just another thing that reminded us that winter is near.

As much as I don’t look forward to it, I know it has to be faced.

It means we will be spending more time at home during the heavy snow/sleet/blizzard-like times. I work from home so I don’t mind it that much yet and appreciate the fact that I can do that. I just don’t want to have any power outages, especially for a long period of time.

And, I want to make sure we have enough food supplies to get us through the days we won’t be able to travel.

All of the festivals are over for the year, leaves are falling from the trees, the time will fall back soon and temperatures have recently started dropping, which makes it’s nippier. Did I ever tell anyone I like summertime the most?

Jamie and I each have a doctor’s appointment yet to go to this year and I hope the weather cooperates on those days.

We just want everybody to be safe in their travels and in their homes. Beware of icy roads and sidewalks.

Facebook is my window to the world outside and I appreciate those who talk about their lives and how they’re doing in general. I truly feel Jamie and I are not alone when others are on Facebook and we can communicate with them.

Most of all, I hope Jamie and I and all of you out there can stay healthy.
