Greenville Lady Wave play well in 3-2 loss to Lady Lakers
INDIAN LAKE – The Greenville Lady Wave dropped a 3-2 soccer scrimmage to the Indian Lake Lady Lakers in the Green Wave’s second preseason scrimmage of the season.
“The team came out and played with great heart,” said Greenville captain, Lilly Lowe. “It might not have been the outcome that we wanted, but we learned some things and are ready for National Trail on Friday.”
The Lady Lakers opened scoring in the first half as both teams played well and moved the ball effectively taking a 1-0 lead at the half.
The Green Wave answered with a perfectly placed corner kick from Lillian Schwer that made its way into the goal unassisted. Shortly after leveling the score, McKenzie Pressnall found the back of the net for Greenville giving the Lady Wave a 2-1 lead.
“The progress we have made within the last year is really showing in our first couple of scrimmages,” stated Captain Kaelyn Gump. “Even though they were losses, both 3-2, we played with great effort and are ready to kick off the season the Friday.”
The Lady Wave open the regular season this Friday with a non-conference match at National Trail with a 7 p.m. start time. The Lady Wave returns to Harmon Field Tuesday, August 16 hosting a scrimmage with Twin Valley South with a 6 p.m. start time.
