Greenville volleyball falls to Butler Lady Aviators in five

GREENVILLE – The Lady Wave took the visiting Butler Lady Aviators to the wire in dropping a 5-set match 3-2 in a MVL varsity volleyball matchup.

“We’re showing some heart by going five,” said Greenville coach, Michelle Hardesty. “We went five earlier this week at Fairborn and won – went five again tonight.”

“At this point in their season, wins and losses still matter,” Hardesty added. “We’re working on bettering our game for tournament and that type of thing.”

Greenville took the opening set 26-24 with Butler rebounding to take the second set 25-21.

The Lady Aviators continued its strong play to go up 2-1 on the night with a 25-17 third set win. The Lady Wave battled back to get the night’s largest margin of victory, a double digit 25-13 fourth set win sending the match to a fifth and deciding set.

“We’re young and inexperienced,” stated Hardesty. “Not that that is really showing a lot but we just have stretches where those kind of things happen. All I can ask the girls to do is to learn from each match as we go forward.”

The Butler Aviators got the win downing the Lady Wave 15-9 in the final set of the night.

“We’ll have junior Skylar Bryson back again next year,” Hardesty noted. “She led us in kills tonight with 14. Our libero, Shyanne Giggoney (sophomore) had a great night with 29-digs and 26-serve receives, so little things. They just bettered us by a couple points tonight and get to take home the win.”
