Lady Wave fall short at Troy

Greenville Lady Wave battles back with strong second half play on the road at Troy

TROY – The Lady Wave dropped a 48-29 road game to the Troy Lady Trojans in MVL Wednesday night action in a game that saw Troy win the first half 34-16 and the second half by a single point, 14-13.

“Our second half was much improved,” said Greenville coach, Rachael Kerns. “The first half we turned the ball over and it led to way too many easy baskets for Troy. Give them credit – they made them.”

Troy came out strong taking the first quarter 15-9 and period No. 2 by a 19-7 count sending the teams to the halftime break with Greenville trailing 34-16.

The Lady Wave battled back to outscore the home standing Lady Trojans 9-5 in the third period before falling by a single point to the Lady Trojans 14-13 in second half play.

“The second half we did a lot better job of taking care of the basketball and only gave up one or two transition baskets,” Kerns noted. “It was a pretty even second half score.”

Skylar Fletcher and Minaxi Pandey paced the Lady Wave with 11-points each including Pandey hitting three 3-pointers in the game.

“We have to get a little bit more scoring from multiple people,” said Coach Kerns. “It’s just figuring out who can play where, how we are going to take care of the basketball and figure out how to play for a full 32-minutes – and get everybody healthy.”
