UNION CITY, Ind. – The Union City varsity volleyball team got their third conference victory Tuesday night after taking down the visiting Lady Panthers from Knightstown by a 3-1 margain.
The Lady Indians found themselves playing catchup early on, as Knightstown took an early lead in the first two sets. UC was able to overcome both deficits and get the win, until the Lady Panthers took set three after gaining a late lead. The fourth set was a battle, as the Lady Indians had to fend off Knightstown to take the set and the match.
“It seems we always have the one set that sets us back, but we just say that means we got to play one more,” said UC head coach Ashley Gard.
“I was just glad to see my girls stay strong. That is one thing we have been working on this year, not getting down no matter what and stay strong until the end and that is what they did,” Coach Gard added.
After suffering a tough road loss at Daleville Wednesday night, Union City stands at 5-3 overall and 3-2 in the Tri-Eastern Conference. The Lady Indians will head across the stateline on Saturday morning for a rival showdown with Mississinawa Valley.
