Matt Hopkins takes over as Tri-Village Patriots head varsity football coach

Hopkins Named Tri-Village Football Coach

Coach Matt Hopkins brings a wealth of coaching experience to Patriot Nation

NEW MADISON – Tri-Village Local Schools and its Athletic Department is proud to announce Matt Hopkins as our next Head Football Coach of the Tri-Village Patriots.

We are confident that Coach Hopkins will continue to build upon the success that our young program has been able to experience over the last few years.

Coach Hopkins is a high school graduate of Preble Shawnee High School and a college graduate of Miami University. He began his coaching career at Eaton High School where he was the Quarterbacks Coach/Passing Game Coordinator from 2005 until 2011.

In 2012, Coach Hopkins took the Head Football job at Preble Shawnee High School, his alma mater, where he inherited a team that finished 0-10. His teams showed steady improvement during his time there and finished 8-2 during the 2017 season, which was the most wins in school history at the time.

He was voted SWBL Coach of the Year that season. The following year, in 2018, Coach Hopkins was named the Head Football Coach at Lebanon High School, where he has spent the past four seasons.

Coach Hopkins has made it clear that his long-term vision for our football program is in harmony with the vision that the school district has as well. There is an expectation that our student-athletes will excel in the classroom first and on the field second. He believes that it is the job of coaches and players to hold each other accountable to those expectations.

In addition to his head coaching duties, Coach Hopkins will serve as a 7-12 Social Studies teacher and also our Weight Room Coordinator.

Statement from Coach Hopkins:

“I am excited to come to Tri-Village and join Patriot Nation as the new Head Football Coach. I would like to thank Mr. Sagester and Mr. Gray for giving me the opportunity to do something that I love in a place where the school is the focal point of the community. I look forward to building on the strong foundation that Coach Burk and his staff have laid the last several seasons.

My staff and I will be fully invested in developing players to be the best version of themselves, both on and off the field, with the understanding that WE are the only ones that can limit OUR potential.

My wife( Gina), myself, and our kids (Zeke, Addison, Asher, Zoey, and Cooper) look forward to being a part of such a proud, supportive, and involved community!”

There will be a meet and greet for the players tonight, March 22nd, at 7:30 in the school commons area.

Coach Hopkins will introduce his program vision to our players and parents. We highly encourage players and parents to attend and also welcome members of the community as well.

Please join us in welcoming Coach Hopkins and his family to Patriot Nation!
