Hoffman named Aktion Club Member of the Month

GREENVILLE—The Aktion Club Member of the Month for May 2022, is Nicole Hoffman.

Hoffman is a fairly new member, and has been attending meetings for about a year. She was “surprised” to have been nominated by her peers, but was chosen for her enthusiasm, and willingness to help every time she’s asked.

Hoffman recently helped participate in the Aktion Club’s spring candy and nut fundraiser, in which she was the second-highest seller.

“She’s always enthusiastic and ready to help,” Sue Huston, Community Connections & Advocacy Coordinator at Darke County Developmental Disabilities said. “She really loves spending time with her friends and loves that social aspect. I think you helped out every time we asked. She’s just really enthusiastic, like for example, with the candy sale.”

In her free time, Hoffman likes to camp, fish, put puzzles together and spend time with friends. Huffman also enjoys her job at Papa Johns, where she puts boxes together.

The Kiwanis Aktion Club is busy as ever. In the month of May, the club of 33 members, volunteered 148 hours of their time.

A lot of that time included helping out at Darke County Developmental Disabilities Awareness Day at Tri-Village Schools. At Darke DD Awareness Days, the group visited county schools to speak to children in grades kindergarten to second grade about inclusion and awareness.

Due to a successful spring candy and nut fundraiser, The Aktion Club is looking forward to their Block Party at South Park in Greenville on June 24.

“It’s really our way to give back to the community,” Huston said. “We figure the kiddos will be there at the splash pad, and we’ll just grill up some hotdogs and offer a lunch for them. First responders will be there with their vehicles. So we will have the sheriff and the police, and the fire department coming so that’s always fun for the kids to see the vehicles and interact with the first responders.”

Additionally, Aktion Club members will be help Darke County DD put on its Family Fun Night Out at the Darke DD building, located at 5844 Jaysville-St Johns Rd, Greenville, OH 45331 on July 28.
