Greenville’s Hartzell advances to Districts

Hartzell wins 3-way playoff to advance to Districts in DI boys golf.

SPRINGFIELD – The Greenville boys varsity golf team shot a 348 to finish sixth at the OHSAA Division I sectional.

Warren Hartzell shot an 83 and found himself in a 3-way playoff the fourth individual spot to advance to Districts. The Green Wave senior won the “spot” on the second playoff hole.

“I’m so happy for Warren,” said Greenville boys golf coach, Brian Stickel. “He has put a lot of time in to make himself a good golfer. Sam had a great round today. He was one stroke off from making the playoff.”

Sam Bankson shot an 84, Jack Marchal carded an 89 and Ethan Sunsdahl finished with a 92 to score for the Wave. Alex Kolb shot 98.

“We’ve had a great season and the seniors will definitely be missed,” Coach Stickel stated. “We have some big shoes to fill next year.”

Hartzell with compete Thursday at the OHSAA DI Districts held at Beavercreek Golf Course.
