Greenville American Legion Post 140 Thunder 14U wins big over Greenville ACME 14U
GREENVILLE – The 14U Greenville ACME and 14U Greenville Thunder American Legion Post 140 hooked up in a Tuesday night matchup with Post 140 coming out on top with a 16-1 win.
“The kids played phenomenal – we had fun today,” said Thunder coach, Nathan Hayes. “We hit the ball well, ran through my pitchers today because of the Annie Oakley Tournament this weekend which we are super excited for. These boys are going to have a lot of good competition but I feel like they will do very well in the tournament.”
“We’re excited about the future of the program,” said Greenville American Legion Post 140 director, Chad Henry. “We’re excited for the program. Having the 14U for the first time – those guys are getting it done out here, they are a lot of fun to watch, it’s a great group of kids.”
Isaac Kerg paced Greenville Thunder Post 140 cranking out three hits and four RBI’s driving in runs on singles in the second and third innings and a double in the fourth.
Zach Ward earned the win for the Post 140 pitching 1.0 innings, allowing no runs, one hit, no walks while striking out two batters. Blake Martin, Braylon Byers and Troy Lavy also took a turn on the mound for the Thunder.
Post 140 exploded for seven runs in the third with Hudson Fasnacht, Tanner Ferraro, Troy Lavy, Zach Ward, Sam Deland and Kerg driving in runs in the inning.
“Thunder has always had a good program so it was good to have some great competition,” said ACME coach, Cameron Kaiser. “We have some Greenville players on the Thunder team so it was just a nice little friendly game tonight and get ready for the tournament this weekend.”
Greenville Post 140 tallied 13 hits with Kerg, Deland, Fasnacht and Bergman each racking up multiple hits in the game.
