GREENVILLE – The Greenville Green Wave JV boys basketball team defeated the visiting Arcanum Trojans 43-28 in non-conference action.

“We’ve been talking all week this is our house and have to secure some victories for the county,” said Greenville JV coach, Matt Hamilton, “so we came out hard and got after it right away.”

The 2021-2022 freshman class is the group of players that has received the attention of local fans over the past several years and lived up to its billing.

“They play hard, they work together well and they’re going to be fun,” Hamilton stated. “They have been here all summer doing all the team camps and workouts – they have definitely bought in.”

Greenville jumped out to a 12-2 lead after one quarter of play led by Wave freshman EB Fall with 8-points and freshman Drew Hamilton’s 4-points.

The Green Wave took the second period 5-2 sending the teams to the break with Greenville holding a 17-5 advantage.

Period number three saw Greenville extending its lead to 32-9 with three complete in the book with Fall tossing in 9-points, Hamilton 4-points and freshman Chase Drew with 2-points.

The final period had the Trojans taking the quarter 19-11 with Brady Lock and Braylen Etherington each scoring 5-points, Nathan Koller and Caleb Burke each with a 3-pointer and Caden Thompson going 2-2 at the free throw line.

Three of the Wave freshmen were in uniform for the varsity game with the Trojans.

“It’s exciting for them, they’ve put the work in over the summer,” Coach Hamilton said. “They have earned the right to be here and hopefully they can contribute if needed.”

EB Fall led Greenville and all scorers with a game high 19 points, all coming in the first three quarters. Drew Hamilton chipped in 14-points for the Wave.

Prior to the JV game, Greenville freshmen downed Arcanum 35-33.
