Greenville Hall of Fame Night Scheduled

2021 and 2022 Greenville Athletic Hall of Fame night set for December 18, 2021

GREENVILLE – The 2021 and 2022 induction of new Greenville Athletic Hall Of Fame members will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2021.

“Our Hall of Fame night is a special night,” said Greenville Athletic Director, Aaron Shaffer. “This year we are going to be honoring two classes. With our limited capacities last year, we thought it would be an injustice to have a Hall of Fame class go in in front of a limited capacity so we are going to be honoring two Hall of Fame classes.”

The Initiation will be held during an afternoon banquet at the Greenville Elks beginning at noon followed by introductions at the evening varsity boys basketball game with the visiting Franklin Monroe Jets.

“We are bringing back some of our great athletes and coaches that have been nominated by their peers or community members and then evaluated by the Hall of Fame selection committee,” Shaffer stated. “Its neat night to bring back some of our greats and recognize them in from of a home crowd.”

The 2021 inductees are: Jordyn Fisherback (Lady Wave Softball) class of 2010; Brian Matix (Wave Football, Basketball, and Baseball) class of 1985; and Jerrod Newland (Lady Wave Softball Coach) 2003-present.

The 2022 inductees are: Krysten Blumenstock (Lady Wave Softball and Volleyball) class of 2008; Selo Ramjattan (Wave Football and Wrestling) class of 2010; and Aaron Shaffer, (Wave Football and Baseball) class of 1995.

“This year we are doing it a little early because of the way our schedule fell but it’s nice to have our Hall of Fame induction ceremony in front of a local crowd with Franklin Monroe coming to town,” said Shaffer. “Some of the fans from Franklin Monroe will recognize some of those faces and names and will have seen them play in the past so it will be nice to honor those people and get them into our Hall of Fame and recognize them for all of the great that they did athletically, socially and academically.”

The general public is invited to attend both functions. Reservations for the afternoon banquet and ticket information for the game may be made by contacting the Greenville Athletic Office at 937-548-4416. The deadline for reservation is November 30, 2021.
