Greenville Hall of Fame game on as scheduled

Greenville Athletic Hall Of Fame game is on schedule to be held this Saturday

GREENVILLE – The 2021 and 2022 induction of new Greenville Athletic Hall Of Fame members is on schedule to be held this Saturday, December 18, 2021.

“As we typically do we have a semi-local team – this time it just happens to be in our back yard with Franklin Monroe,” said Greenville Athletic Director, Aaron Shaffer. “It’s going to be great competition.”

“We are honoring two classes because we weren’t able to have full attendance last year,” Shaffer continued. “We didn’t want to do last year’s group in front of a smaller crowd so we will have eight going in and being recognized during a brief ceremony between games to honor greats in the past here.

The 2021 inductees are: Jordyn Fisherback (Lady Wave Softball) class of 2010; Brian Matix (Wave Football, Basketball, and Baseball) class of 1985; and Jerrod Newland (Lady Wave Softball Coach) 2003-present.

The 2022 inductees are: Krysten Blumenstock (Lady Wave Softball and Volleyball) class of 2008; Selo Ramjattan (Wave Football and Wrestling) class of 2010; and Aaron Shaffer, (Wave Football and Baseball) class of 1995.

“Hall of Fame Night is always a special night, brings back alumni, brings back great memories for some of our families and friends,” said Shaffer. “We are really excited to get back on the floor with the boys on Saturday night – obviously the marquee event of the night is the Hall of Fame induction but right after the induction ceremony we will get into our varsity boys contest against Franklin Monroe.”

Coach Shaffer noted the best way to keep up with all Greenville sports is the athletic department website including score updates and game changes.
