GREENVILLE— Greenville FC will host a soccer academy for girls in the fifth through eighth grade interested in learning or furthering their soccer skills in preparation for high school.
The academy’s instruction and games will be held on Sundays and Thursdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Greenville Middle School. The academy will be instructed by GHS Girls Soccer Coach Dave Ernst, high school coaching staff, and high school players. The academy will include training in the fundamentals of soccer, small drills, and game play. If number of participants allow, teams will be formed, and a mini league format will be played. All instruction and games will be held at the middle school or high school. It will cost $50 per participant, there will be a parent/info meeting on March 13 at 6 p.m. at the Greenville Middle School soccer fields.
Greenville FC was started by Coach Dave Ernst with the goal to start a Junior High soccer program for Greenville girls in the fifth through eighth grade. Not only to provide a program, but to develop the participants, so they can be ready for high school soccer. “Every other high school sport has a junior high program, let’s see if we can get something started for the junior high girls,” Ernst said.
