GREENVILLE—Officers from the Greenville Police Department were made aware of a domestic disturbance on Detling Rd. by the Darke County Sheriff‘s Office on July 5, 2022 at approximately 4:47 p.m.. Aaron Sanders, 29 years old, of Ansonia, was being disorderly and was possibly intoxicated. Prior to the deputy‘s arrival, information was relayed that Sanders had left the address on Detling Rd. and was southbound on SR 49 N driving a black BMW. It was known that Sanders had a felony arrest warrant and a suspended driver‘s license.
Officers from the Greenville Police Department acting on this information responded to the area of SR 49 N at the Greenville City limits where, a short time later, they encountered Sanders‘ vehicle traveling southbound on SR 49 N entering the city
As at a very high rate of speed. When officers attempted a traffic stop, Sanders fled and a pursuit was initiated heading westbound on SR 571 W. The pursuit continued to Onskt Rd. and then southbound on Palestine – Union City Rd, reaching speeds of over 100 MPH. As the pursuit entered the Village of Palestine, Sanders‘ vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign at US RT 36 and struck an eastbound vehicle.
As a result of the traffic crash, Sanders and the driver of the second vehicle,
Greenville, sustained injuries and were flown by Care Flight to Miami Valley Hospital. Their conditions are unknown at this time. The Ohio State Highway Patrol was requested and responded to investigate the crash which is currently under investigation
