Golf Outing Supports Green Wave Football

Greenville football program benefits from annual golf outing

VERSAILLES – Greenville City Schools held its 10th annual football fundraiser in support of the program with purchase of equipment to help GHS compete for the MVL Championship and the opportunity to represent Greenville in OHSAA playoffs.

Previous golf outings have purchased two sets of uniforms at the varsity level, a set of uniforms at for the middle school program, end zone camera and sideline video capabilities, headsets for the coaching staff to better communicate during games, re-padded sleds and much more.

“All proceeds here go to Greenville football and everything we do trying to put our kids in the best possible equipment money can buy and our year to year expenses,” said Green Wave head football coach, Bart Schmitz. “The support every year is amazing.”

The 2022 event numbered 29 teams taking to the Stillwater golf course in support of the GHS football program.

“You name it we’ve bought it with these proceeds,” Schmitz noted. “We bought a couple sets of uniforms. This year we have started to replace middle school uniforms.”

“We’ve re-padded sleds,” he continued. “Our video cameras, headphones so that we can have what we need to try and be successful at no expense to our kids. That is what this is all about.”

As with each year, the 2022 fundraiser had a full slate of golfers and sponsors supporting the Greenville football program.

“I would like to thank all our sponsors and the 29 teams that are out here supporting this great cause,” said Coach Schmitz. “There are a lot of things going on in Greenville this weekend and year in and year out people show up. The support is amazing – it goes to a good cause.”
