Four appear in common pleas court

GREENVILLE— Four people appeared in Darke County Common Pleas Court on Monday. Judge Jonathan P. Hein presided.

Corey J. Hobbs, 33, of Greenville, offered a guilty plea to one count of possession of methamphetamine, a fifth-degree felony. Hobbs submitted a memorandum requesting that he participate in an intervention program in lieu of a conviction. The court will hold the offered guilty plea and upon completion of the intervention program, it will be dismissed. If he’s unable to complete the program, the guilty plea will stand, and he will face up to 12 months in prison and a $2,500 fine, neither of which are mandatory.

Melinda A. Vanderzanden, of New Madison, offered a guilty plea to one count of aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony. Vanderzanden submitted a memorandum requesting that she participate in an intervention program in lieu of a conviction. The court will hold the offered guilty plea and upon completion of the intervention program, it will be dismissed. If she’s unable to complete the program, the guilty plea will stand, and she will face up to 12 months in prison and a $2,500 fine, neither of which are mandatory.

Ralph M. Turner, of Sidney, pleaded guilty vida Zoom call, to one count of aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony. He faces up to 12 months in prison and a $2,500 fine, neither of which are mandatory.

Cody A. Lavy, 37, of Winchester, Ind., was sentenced via Zoom call, to 80 days in jail with 80 days credit on one count of aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony. Lavy previously pleaded guilty to the sole count in Aug. 2020.
