Franklin Monroe Lady Jets youth volleyball camp hosts 30 campers
PITSBURG – The Franklin Monroe volleyball program hosted 30 campers to its youth volleyball camp under the direction of Lady Jets volleyball coach, Angie Filbrun.
“This is our biggest camp yet and I am very happy to see this many kids in the gym,” said Filbrun. “We’re doing just the basics, passing, setting and serving. We’re introducing some hitting so they are all excited about that – just focusing on the basics this week.”
Coach Filbrun is pleased with the assistance she receives from her high school volleyball players each day of camp.
“My favorite part of youth camp is watching my high school girls interact with the younger girls,” Coach Filbrun said with a smile. “That is my favorite part, just seeing them interact with the young campers, encourage them and help them. I think that makes them better players and better people in the end.”
It is obvious Coach Filbrun is in the “coaching business” for more than just wins and losses not only during the season but year around.
“We have amazing kids, we just have to believe in them and keep building them up,” said the veteran Lady Jets coach. “It gets me in the heart, this is why I am here, this is my mission – kids, and to encourage them and to help them believe in themselves every single day.”
“We have amazing kids who are ready to jump in for fall season,” Coach Filbrun continued. “We’re excited. We graduated Skylar (Bauman), that will be a huge loss for us but we have people who are ready to step in and we’re looking forward to a fun season.”
