Eaton downs Talawanda 

National Trail defeats Preble Shawnee

EATON – Eaton’s varsity football team pushed its record to 2-1 with a 31-14 win over Talawanda on Friday. Sept. 2. The Eagles are set to begin Southwestern Buckeye League play this Friday traveling to Bellbrook.

Eaton took control of the game early against the Braves, jumping out to a 21-0 lead by midway through the second period. The Eagles got touchdown runs from Danny Caldwell and Berard Cordis in the first quarter. That was followed by a 5-yard touchdown pass from Brock Ebright to Leslie Orr in the second period.

Talawanda was able to put together a drive in the second quarter to get on the scoreboard. The Braves scored with just over two minutes remaining before halftime.

Eaton, however, was able to use the final minutes to get in field goal range. Drew Michael connected to make the score 24-7 at the half.

Both teams added a touchdown in the fourth quarter. Talawanda scored on a fumble recovery which was ran back for a touchdown. Eaton scored on a 75-yard pass play from Ebright to Brayden Deem.

National Trail vs Preble Shawnee 

National Trail has put together back-to-back convincing wins over Western Ohio Athletic Conference opponents. The Blazers are now 2-0 in the WOAC to start the season.

NT defeated Tri-County 33-14 last week and backed that up with a 31-13 win over Preble Shawnee on Friday, Sept. 2.

NT is now 2-1 overall. They are scheduled to host Batavia in a non-WOAC game on Friday and then return to conference action the following week against Dixie.

Preble Shawnee is 2-1 overall, 1-1 in the WOAC. They will stay in Preble County this coming Friday, traveling to Twin Valley South.
