Former Ansonia Lady Tigers head basketball coach, Bruce Davison accepts Winchester, Ind. boys varsity assistant coaching job
GREENVILLE – Former Ansonia Lady Tigers head basketball coach, Bruce Davison has accepted the boys varsity assistant coaching position at Indiana’s Winchester High School.
Davison joins Golden Eagles head coach, Dustin Baldwin for the 2022-2023 high school season.
“I have an opportunity to coach again,” said Davison. “Dustin Baldwin who coached my son from 2012-2016 and now it is a chance for us to be back together. He called me and invited me to be part of their coaching staff.”
“I am excited about it,” Davison continued. “I had an opportunity this summer to get to know the guys. We did some summer camps and various things in which we were involved with, shootouts and so forth. I had a chance to get to know each of the kids.”
Known for his positive attitude and strong faith is evident in Davison’s coaching style.
“One thing I discovered, it’s not necessarily who you coach or where you coach is as significant as what you coach – it is the whole basis,” Davison shared. “High school athletics is an extension of the classroom and it is an opportunity to teach life skills that stay with you beyond the game of basketball.”
“As time passes they will forget about the scores and outcomes but they will remember you as your character – your character always stays with you. People will remember your character and who you were as a person. The life skills in which you taught will far last beyond any scores or outcomes or records.”
Davison serves as the 7-12 Guidance Counselor at Randolph Eastern School Corportation in Union City, Indiana.
“These are just a great group of young men to work with, to get to know,” Davison said of the Winchester boys basketball team. “I am looking forward to coaching with Coach Baldwin. We have known his family for years so it is a great opportunity to be connected again.”
