Commissioners unseal bids, talk Eagle Scouts

The Darke County Board of Commissioners met on Monday afternoon to unseal construction bids and proclaim another local boy an Eagle Scout.

The board approved a motion to receive bids for review from PAB Construction, of Coldwater, and Double Jay Construction, of Englewood, for the North Main Sidewalk Replacement in the Village of Palestine. The Darke County Engineer Jim Surber projected construction will cost $53,325.

Now that the board has received the bids, they will be reviewed by the Palestine Village Council during their next council meeting, then the selected bid will be returned to the board for approval.

Lastly, the board proclaimed Nathaniel Davis as an Eagle Scout. After proclaiming Kurt Meiring as an eagle scout last week, the commissioners decided to highlight Davis’s accomplishments as well. To earn his status, the board said his community service project was repainting and mulching the entirety of the Pitsburg Park.

“We were down there for summer league baseball and it does really look nice,” Commissioner Aultman said. “I didn’t realize an Eagle Scout had done it, but it was impressive.”

The Darke County Board of Commissioners hold regular session every Monday and Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at 520 South Broadway, Greenville, Ohio 45331. For more information contact the commissioner’s office at 937-547-7370.
