The Darke County Board of Commissioners met on Wednesday afternoon to discuss the Darke County Airport and to sign a breast cancer awareness proclamation. Commissioners Matt Aultman, Mike Stegall and Larry Holmes were present.
Prior to the start of the meeting, the commissioners signed a proclamation declaring October to be Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Darke County. The board recognized that this year alone, 248,200 people (281,550 women and 2,650 males) will be diagnosed with breast cancer.
Additionally, they acknowledged that one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. The board encouraged early detection and education are critical to saving lives.
The board approved a fixing of date for bids for drainage updates and waterway construction at the Darke County Airport. The estimated cost of the project is $93,537.25. The commissioners will accept bids until Dec. 15 at 1 p.m, and will read the bids during regular session at 1:30 p.m. the same day.
