GREENVILLE—The Darke County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday to discuss the Darke County Sheriff’s Office and an upcoming ditch hearing. Commissioners Matt Aultman, Mike Stegall and Larry Holmes were all present.
The board accepted a recommendation from Sheriff Mark Whittaker for the installation of gold medal safety padding in two cells at the Darke County Jai. Sheriff Whittaker recommended a contract from Marathon Engineering Corporation, of Lehigh Acres, FL, for $46,573.
The board then approved the recommended contract. The county will pay $13,971, or 30% of the project fees upon signing the contract, and the remainder upon completion of the project.
Next, the board approved Resolution (R-84-2022), for the fixing of time and date for hearing of Weitzell Group Ditch Improvements. The board received a letter from the Darke County Engineer Jim Surber which mentioned the Weitzell Group Ditch be put on maintenance. The assessments have been submitted to the board, with an approximate cost of $4,800, which will include property of 12 land owners.
The ditch hearing will be Thursday, April 14, at 1:30 p.m., and the clerk will notify the 12 landowners by certified mail.
