The Darke County Board of Commissioners met on Monday afternoon to primarily discuss The Ohio State University Extension and Arcanum community improvements. Commissioners Matt Aultman, Mike Stegall and Larry Holmes were all present.
Taylor Dill, Agriculture and Natural Resources Educator, updated the board on recent activity at The Ohio State Extension. She told the board that in October she taught EMS and firefighter training courses in Versailles. She hosted her monthly ag breakfast and has recently been busy with harvest. She told the board they have one research plot left to go. She is currently planning future winter meetings.
The board approved a letter of support for the Village of Arcanum’s continuing effort to restore its historic opera house, upgrade brick streets downtown, restore parts of Ivester Park and update the community pool. The letter will serve to support the village during the grant application process.
Lastly, the board approved a memo to all Darke County elected officials and department heads. The memo states that all regular session meetings will remain on Monday and Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.
However, items that need approval in Monday sessions will now be due by Friday at 11:30 a.m in the commissioner’s office. The clerks will check the board mailbox at the auditor’s office multiple times a day, do not put items in the mailbox past 11 a.m.
Items that need approval in Wednesday sessions will now be due by Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in the commissioner’s office. Again the clerks will check the board mailbox at the auditor’s office multiple times a day, and encourage items be brought to the commissioner’s office if its nearing 1 p.m.
