The Darke County Board of Commissioners met on Wednesday afternoon to discuss the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), child service support and public defenders. Commissioners Matt Aultman and Larry Holmes were present. Commissioner Mike Stegall was absent.
The board approved Resolution (R-369-2021), to approve a fund transfer of $61,392.69 to Darke County Job & Family Services for child services. The 2021 annual funds were previously approved in regular session on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2020.
The board approved Resolution (R-370-2021), to approve an appropriation increase of $19,954.54 for a server for the Darke County Health Department to run public health programs related to the ARPA.
Next, the board approved Resolution (R-374-2021), to approve a request from Darke County Common Pleas Judge Jonathan P. Hein in aggreement with Judge Jason Aslinger, to appoint John Marchel Jr. and Ryan Dynes to the Public Defender Commission. Marchel Jr. will replace Caroline Schmidt as a board member through Dec. 31, 2023, and Dynes will be a new board member through Dec. 31, 2025.
The Darke County commissioners established a public defender commission on Nov. 24, 2003. The board appoints three members and Darke County Common Pleas Judge Jonathan P. Hein appoints two members.
