Commissioners talk American Rescue Plan, upcoming construction project

The Darke County Board of Commissioners met on Wednesday afternoon to discuss the American Rescue Plan and an upcoming construction project in the Village of Palestine. Commissioners Matt Aultman, Mike Stegall and Larry Holmes were present.

The board approved an application to employ the firm of Vorys, Sater, Seymore and Pease LLP, of Columbus, as counsel to assist the Darke County Prosecuting Attorney, the commissioners and any other county officer in matters related to the American Rescue Plan Grant.

Assistant Prosecutor James Bennett recommended the nationally-known law firm to the board during regular session, and assured the board that they have a lot of experience with government work.

Next, the board approved a letter of recommendation and a notice of award for PAB Construction Co., of Coldwater, for the N. Main Street Sidewalk Replacement project in the Village of Palestine. The bid chosen is $53,032.40, with $42,500 of the price covered by the CDBG Allocation Program. The Village of Palestine pledged to pay the extra funds.
