Commissioners talk airport, solar farms

GREENVILLE—The Darke County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday afternoon to discuss the Darke County Airport and the Painter Creek Solar Farms Project. Commissioners Matt Aultman, Mike Stegall and Larry Holmes were all present.

The board approved Resolution, (R-34-2022), to increase revenue by $165,810 and increase appropriation by $165,810 for a 2022 Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) Aviation grant. The board first applied to the grant about two years ago. ODOT will match funds five percent.

The grant will fund a new rotating beacon at the Darke County Airport. Instead of being attached to the terminal, the new beacon will be its own entity.

Lastly, Commissioner Holmes announced there will be a town hall meeting regarding the Painter Creek Solar Farms Project at the Greenville Middle School on Monday, Feb. 28 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

He added more information is to come as the date gets closer.

The Darke County Board of Commissioners hold regular session every Tuesday and Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at 520 South Broadway, Greenville, Ohio 45331. For more information contact the commissioner’s office at 937-547-7370.
