Commissioners discuss various fund transfers, proclaim Constitution Week

The Darke County Board of Commissioners met on Monday afternoon to primarily discuss various fund transfers and to declare Constitution Week. Commissioners Matt Aultman, Mike Stegall and Larry Holmes were present.

First, the board approved Resolution (R-305-2021), for various appropriation transfers.

The transfers included $1,660 to the Darke County Adult Probation Department, $1,000 to the Darke County Board of Developmental Disabilities, $1,872.32 to the Darke County Commissioners, $1,962 to the Darke County Common Pleas Court, $600 to the Darke County Emergency Management, $45,000 to Darke County Job & Family Services, $2,000 to the Darke County Sheriff’s Department and $500 to the Darke County Municipal Court.

The commissioners then approved Resolution (R-307-2021), to order levying maintenance assessments on single county ditches for 2022.

The board is required by law to levy an annual assessment for the maintenance of single county ditch improvement upon completion or substantial completion of such improvement, on or before the first day of July in each year thereafter.

Lastly, the board proclaimed the week of Sept. 17 to 23 as “Constitution Week.”

Last Friday, the board visited the Greenville Municipal Building with the Daughters of the American Revolution and Greenville Mayor Steve Willman to sign the proclamation for Greenville and Darke County.

Commissioner Stegall encouraged everyone in attendance and in the community to attend the Arcanum Purple Heart Ceremony on Tuesday at 7 p.m at the Arcanum Veteran’s Park.

Arcanum will be the first village or city in Darke County to become a member of the Purple Heart Trail. Should there be inclement weather, the event will be moved to the Arcanum Fieldhouse at 310 N. Main Street.
