Bringing cheer with Winter gear

Zechar-Bailey Funeral Homes collecting items through Dec. 21

GREENVILLE – When digging out the ice scrapers for the morning commute, we often find ourselves searching for our hats, scarves and gloves while waiting for the school bus, shopping around town, or greeting neighbors and friends. Although keeping warm and dry is a priority at this time of the year, many residents – especially the youngest– find themselves without this essential “winter gear” when it is most needed.

Thankfully, Darke County is blessed to have many charitable organizations, ministries and businesses that see the needs in our community and respond with generous hearts and help. This year, Zechar-Bailey Funeral Homes is once again sponsoring its annual Christmas collection tree to provide hats, mittens, scarves, and gloves of all sizes for local children and families.

Donations of these much-needed items can be dropped off or placed on or under the trees in the Zechar Bailey lobby, located at 1499 N. Broadway in Greenville, or in the Bailey Zechar lobby, located at 653 Hickey Avenue in Versailles. The collection is ongoing now through Tuesday, December 21. Then, items will be distributed on Wednesday, December 22, and Thursday, December 23.
