Blackhawks honor seniors in matchup with Houston

Mississinawa Valley honored 11 seniors prior to non-conference basketball game with the Houston Wildcats

UNION CITY – The Mississinawa Valley Blackhawks hosted the Houston Wildcats in a non-conference senior night matchup with the visitors taking the game 64-42.

“Give it all to the seniors,” said Mississinawa Valley coach, Ismael Anguiano. “Xavier Manning, Davian Trump and Jake Dirmeyer played their tails off tonight. They played a great game – hats off to them.”

Houston grabbed and early double digit first quarter lead and never looked back taking the opening period 20-13.

Period No. 2 was played close with the Wildcats coming out on top 10-8 sending the teams to the break with the visitors holding a 30-21 advantage.

Houston stretched its lead back to double digits taking the third quarter 17-9 sending the game to the final period with the Wildcats leading 47-30.

“I have good athletes,” Anguiano stated. “That is what is so stressful. We do have the athletes but for some reason it just isn’t going our way.”

The fourth quarter went to Houston by an 18-12 score giving the Wildcats a 24-point win.

“Matt Pisano had a great game today – he eight rebounds today,” said Anguiano. “Drew Anguiano played an excellent game today.”
