Benefit set for Fetters family

ARCANUM– Sarah Billenstein, owner of Picnic’s Pizza & Grille, Arcanum, is planning an event for her friend April Fetters, who recently lost her life to COVID.

“The world just lost a beautiful soul,” Billenstein said. “April Fetters was a dear friend to so many. A loving mother of five, grandmother to seven and devoted wife of 19 years to Darrell Fetters, April lived life to the fullest.  She poured her heart into her friends and family; never too busy to stop and chat. April laughed easily and loved fiercely as evidenced by the outpouring of support during her illness.”

It was noted that in December 2021, April contracted COVID.

“Her condition quickly deteriorated, and she spent several weeks on a ventilator at OSU,” Billensten said. “April fought hard and, at times, her condition would improve only to backslide. In the end, God called her home. Surrounded by her loving family, April passed on Jan. 3, 2022 at 5:15 p.m.”

April and husband Darrell were independent operators of their business.

“Without working, they have no income,” Billenstein reported. “Darrell did his best to balance the business with spending precious moments with his dear sweet wife during her illness. The medical bills and final expenses coupled with the loss of April’s income are daunting and the loss of income is ongoing as Darrell mourns and attempts to adjust to life without his dear wife. April meant so much to so many. In times of deep pain and suffering from the loss of one so dear, we often wonder how we can help.”

So, on  Jan. 12, 2022, Picnic’s Pizza & Grille in Arcanum, will be donating a large portion of sales directly to the family.

“Picnic’s has a diverse menu that can be found at www.picnicspizza.com,” Billenstein said. “Orders can be placed by calling 937-662-0167 from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. Picnic’s will also be collecting donations for the Fetters family for the month of January.

“Please consider donating to this lovely family,” Billenstein urged. “In life, we sometimes meet people that take our breath away, people that we wonder how they can be so generous, so vulnerable, so open, selfless, full of love, life, joy, empathy, compassion.

April was one of those people. At times, the trials of others took an emotional toll on April, but she never showed it and she never turned anyone away. It is our turn to bless this family. To honor a life well lived. Please join us on Jan. 12. Let us love this family through their darkest time.”
