The Greenville Art Guild is looking to 2022 with new ideas and new leadership.
Jennifer Overholser has been selected as the new president of the Art Guild. Jennifer is a local artist specializing in oil painting. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Painting and Visual Communication from Otterbein University in 2016. Her paintings have been displayed across the state and her work is currently represented by the Penny Jane Art Gallery in Coldwater.
The Art Guild’s executive team met recently to discuss the future of the Art Guild. There was a strong consensus that the Art Guild needed to try new ideas and modernize in order to remain relevant and grow their membership. The group also reflected on what brought the Art Guild together in the first place- Fellowship among artists and art lovers- and agreed that this should be the theme for the new year.
The first event for the year will resemble a book club discussion. Individuals are invited to read “The Hammock” by Lucy Paquette. The book is a novel based on the true story of French Painter James Tissot. The guild will meet later in February to reflect on the artist’s life, style, and paintings after reading the novel. The exact date and meeting location is to be determined. The goal is to have a light hearted discussion and build friendships among new and returning members.
The Greenville Art Guild is open to anyone living in the Darke County Area. Membership fees are $20 for the year, and $15 for Senior Citizens. High School Students are also eligible for membership at a discounted rate.
