Brookville – The Arcanum Volleyball team finished 3rd in the initial season of the Western Ohio Athletic Conference with a 9-2 record and looking strong heading into post season play.
But the Trojans were upset in the opening round of the OHSAA D3 Brookville Sectional 25-16, 25-16, 25-20 by Indian Lake.
The Lakers were clicking on all cylinders, and I heard from several fans state that their team was playing at a level they had hoped for all season, and it was the best they had looked.
Unfortunately for Arcanum they weren’t firing on all cylinders, and it would cut their tournament run short.
Arcanum will see 5 seniors graduate from the team: Peyton Garbig, Ellie Fout, Taylor Gray, Alexis Wilcox and Madelyn Fearon.
Taylor Gray will be tough to replace as she was named the WOAC conference player of the year in volleyball. The senior racked up 362 Kills, 48 Aces, 214 Digs and 37 Blocks this year and broke a few records in a career at Arcanum including eclipsing 1,000 kills this year and setting a new school record in Kills.
Teammates joining Taylor Gray on the WOAC All-Conference teams are Ellie Fout 1st team, Mollie Erickson 2nd team and Haley Smith Special Mention.
Arcanum ends their season with a 12-10 overall record
