Arcanum girls team celebrates big play during a game this year. They are currently ranked 5th in the DIII AP State Poll. Tri-Village is ranked 5th in the DIV State Poll.

Arcanum & Tri-Village Girls Basketball Ranked in AP Poll

Two Darke County and Western Ohio Athletic Conference girls basketball teams have earned top 10 rankings in the 1st Ohio AP Poll

Division III Arcanum is ranked 5th and off to a great 10-1 start their only loss to 9-2 Tri-Village ranked 5thin Division IV.

The Trojans are led by a trio of seniors; Hailey Unger averaging 18 pts and 4.5 assist, Madelyn Fearon12 pts and 4.8 assist and Taylor Gray 12.5 pts, 6.5 reb and 2.5 blocks per game.

The Patriots are led by a trio of one senior Meghan Downing and two juniors  Ryler Sagester and Morgan Hunt both recently scoring a 1,000 points.

Sagester is averaging 17 pts, 4 assist, Hunt 14.6 pts, 8.6 reb and Downing with 10.2 rebounds and 5 blocks per game.

Dale Barger is a lifelong sports enthusiast and has covered high school athletics for nearly 20 years in Southwest Ohio and now becomes sports editor for Darke County now. For 18 years Dale has been a sportswriter for The Daily Advocate and has been published in online sorts magazines and conference websites. Dale is also an accomplished photographer who has captured thousands of athletes in action over the years. Dale is a member of The Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association and was a 2019 recipient of the Ohio High School Athletic Association Southwest District Media Service Award. Dale lives on a 72-acre farm outside of New Madison, Ohio and is married to Rita Ann (Fourman) Barger and together they have two sons and three grandkids.
