ARCANUM – The Arcanum Trojans defeated the visiting Twin Valley South Panthers 43-13 in a Friday night lightning delayed WOAC football matchup.
“Defensively it was a great game,” said Arcanum coach, Jason Schondelmyer. “The Defense did a great job of running to the football.”
The Trojans got on the board first with a 3-yard TD pass from Bryce Schondelmyer to Ian Baker and a 2-point Baker conversion pass reception to lead 8-0.
The Schondelmyer to Baker combination connected for at 25-yard touchdown, the second of the opening period to lead 14-0 after one quarter of play.
Arcanum pushed its lead to 22-0 in the second by way of a 50-yard Schondelmyer to Brennen Troutwine TD pass a a Schondelmyer to Troutwine 2-point pass conversion followed by a second Schondelmyer to Troutwine TD reception and a 2-point pass conversion to Baker to make it a 30-0 Trojans advantage.
TVS got on the first half board with a 15-yard Cole Bishop run for a 36-6. Arcanum closed out first half scoring with a 3-yard quarterback keeper sending the teams to the break with the Trojans well in control with a 36-6 lead.
Following a long lightning delayed halftime, the teams took the field with with the Trojans’ lone score of the second half coming on a Zade Shank fourth quarter 54-yard TD fumble recovery and a Damian Steck PAT kick splitting the uprights to give the Trojans led 43-6.
“Offensively we were like a roller coaster ride – up and down,” stated Coach Schondelmyer. “We just need to continue to focus on us and trying to get one percent better everyday.”
The visitors closed out scoring on the night with a 5-yard Cais Kinglsey Touchdown run and a Jace Thuma PAT kick for a final 43-13 score.
Schondelmyer was 13-28 thought the air good for 222-yards, 4-TDs and no interceptions.
Landon Wagner rushed for 52-yard on 3-carries, Schondelmyer 33-yards on 12-carries and Zade Sink carried 3-times for 13-yard.
Troutwine had 3-recptions for 85-yards and 2-touchdowns, Baker 3-receptions for 42 yards and 2-TDs, Shank 3-catches for 5-yards, Garrett Garno 2-receptions for 18-yards, Mason Shelton 1 catch for 20-yards and Tyler Huber 1-pass reception for 1-yard.
Garrett Garno paced the Trojans with 8-tackles, Jacob Rayburn contributed 6-tackles and Devin Craport added 4-tackles. Troutwine, Mason Shelton, Tyler Huber each Dakota Kendig each accounted for 3-tackles.
Baker, Damian Steck and Eli Shelton each had 2-tackles and Shank, Noah Egnor and Isaac Kreitzer each had a tackle.
